Courtney Ochi is an experienced educator and leader with a diverse background in the field of education. Over the last decade, Courtney has held many roles leading K-12 students and staff, including teacher, Dean of Students, and Principal. With a strong commitment to equity-driven initiatives and a passion for student success, Courtney has made significant contributions to the field through her leadership, instructional coaching, and implementation of innovative programs.

Courtney is a doctoral student at the University of San Diego, where she is pursuing a PhD in Education for Social Justice. Courtney was a fellow in the RISE San Diego Urban Leadership Program and the New Schools funded RISE Urban Principal Preparation Program. She returned to RISE in 2023 to serve as a mentor to current fellows supporting their personal and professional development. Courtney is also a member of the University of San Diego’s Nonprofit Institute Horizon Leader Program, a cohort designed for leaders with a proven track record of effectively addressing complex issues to enhance the well-being of underserved and under-resourced communities across San Diego. Courtney has led affinity spaces for Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander pre-service teaching candidates and is actively involved in Teach for America’s Collective, an association for educators and cross-sector advocates of color.
