Sue Park is the CEO Emeritus of Yu Ming Charter School, a network of K-8 public schools located in Oakland and San Leandro, and California’s first Mandarin immersion charter school. Diverse by design, Yu Ming provides an academically rigorous, innovative, whole-child education to K-8 students from many racial, ethnic, language and socio-economic backgrounds. Yu Ming is among the highest-performing in the county and state and for every significant student population regardless of socioeconomic background, race, and learning difference. Under Sue’s leadership, Yu Ming has been a two time California Distinguished School, National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, and ranked the #7 Best Elementary School and #2 Best Charter School in California by U.S. News.

Previously, Sue was the Senior Vice President of Programs at Camino Nuevo Charter Academy, a network of six charter schools and an early education center serving more than 3,600 students in central Los Angeles. Sue led the strategy and execution of Camino Nuevo’s comprehensive continuum of integrated support from Pre-K through college completion. Sue has also served as a Spanish bilingual elementary teacher, principal, VP of State and District Relations at Teach For America, Executive Director of the Hong Kong Women’s Foundation, and a founding staff member at Teach For All. Sue was awarded the 2021 Hart Vision Award by the CA Charter Schools Association and is a Pahara Fellow. Sue holds BAs from UC San Diego, a JD from UC Berkeley, and an M.Ed. from UCLA.
